GENERAL INFORMATION
3D flexible abrasives.
Three-dimensional flexible abrasives are made from nylon fibres with grain anchored in resin. They are suitable for manual use in sheets, rolls and floor pads. The reinforced version is ideal for more aggressive use cases and abrasive belts.
Tex
Nylon fibres with thermally hardened resin combined into a three-dimensional web structure. Abrasive grain is anchored in the synthetic resin.
The result is a springy abrasive with an open structure. This abrasive material (“Tex”) is easy to cut and has low mechanical resistance. It is often used for manual applications in the form of sheets and rolls. Tex does not interfere with the geometric shape of the workpiece at all.
Reinforced Tex
Reinforced Tex is an open nylon web permeated with abrasive grain anchored on a woven polyester structure.
The material is highly resistant to tears and cutting and ideally suited for use in endless abrasive belts.
Nylon floor pads
This nylon is made from a very tight web structure and is designed specially for cleaning and polishing floors.
It is used on discs in a special floor sander. The pads come in different colours, each signifying a specific aggressiveness – the darker, the more aggressive, with black being the coarsest grade and white the softest.
The Tex materials can be divided into four main categories.
- A = Tex with aluminium oxide grain
- S = Tex with silicon carbide grain
- CP = Tex with high-quality aluminium oxide and improved resin formula
- 00 = Tex with no grain
Characteristics
Can be used either wet or dry.
Mould easily to the piece being worked.
Do not get clogged up, thanks to the open web structure.
Very forgiving and can be used even by inexperienced users.
Completely iron-free and therefore perfect for working on stainless steel.
Give a consistent, uniform finish.
Are a basis for numerous derived products:
- Open and closed abrasive belts
- Flap discs and other sanding discs on fibre, cloth or velvet
- Quick-change discs: Socatt® – Roloc®
- Disc grinding wheels with spindle or shaft opening
- Flap wheels with spindle or shaft opening
Applications
Due to the huge variety of shapes, variants and grades available, three-dimensional abrasives can be used for working on almost any material imaginable, including:
Stainless steel
Non-ferrous metals
Titanium
Metal
Cobalt alloys
Paints and coatings
Varnishes
Wood
Stone
Synthetics
Did you know that forgiving abrasives are always compressible materials? They are characterised by low heat production, a high machining capacity and a high-quality finish.
